As chairman of fhe Financial Commiffee, Mr. Goff dealf wifh every financial aspecf of fhe col- lege, from building problems fo individual sfudenf finance. Mr. Goff was also a member of fhe Adminisfrafive Council, fhe College Board of Trusfees, fhe Scholarship and Granfs Commi'Hee and 'l'he College Relafions Commiffee. He made a frip fo fhe Denver campus once every fwo monfhs. ln March he wenf wifh a General Conference survey feam fo inspecf fhe denominafional schools in Canada. One of fhe oufsfanding innovafions made while Mr. Goff has been af Union College was fhe infroducfion of elecfronic dafa processing in keeping financial accounfs and academic records. Mr. Roy Crawford, Assisfanf Business Manager, worked closely wifh. fhe sfudenfs bo+h in his posifion as financial advisor fo fhe Associafed Sfudenf Body and in his workin fhe Business Office, where he supervised sfudenf finance. Sfudenfs having difficulfy meefing col- lege expenses mef wifh him fo work ouf loans or scholarships. Mr. Crawford also helped sfudenfs locafe jobs, eifher on or off campus. College Relations A man who encourages his Philosophy of Educafion class fo fhink big, Glenn Davenporf busied himself fhis school year on a fhree-fold focus including working on his Ed.D. af fhe Universify of Nebraska, feach- ing a weekly Monday nighf class for fhe Educafion Deparfmenf, and serv- ing as direcfor of College Relafions. The laH'er responsibilify includes solicif- ing for new sfudenls, planning Safurday evening programs, planning fhe high school seniors' visifafion, and wrifing all of fhe college's copy for denominafional papers. He has prepared a display including picfures and ofher informafion on Union College which he displays af fhe numerous camp meefings in fhe Cenfral and Norfhern Unions during fhe summer monfhs. Glenn Davenporf, M.A., College Relalions Direcfor and Mrs. Ginger Johnson. secrefary Counseling Dr. Laurence Downing, in charge of counseling and fesfing since he firsl' came fo Union fhree years ago, feels fhal' his main responsibilify lies wifh falking fo sfudenfs abou'l' fheir vocafional, academic, social and spirifual prob- lems. Aside from his counseling dufies, Dr. Downing has faughl' several secfions of lnfroducfion 'lo Educafion, a survey course required by 'lhe Educafion Deparfmenf. Second semesfer of fhis year, however, Dr. Downing sfopped feaching classes in order fhaf he mighf supervise 'lhe Vocafional-Technical Educafion program which began wifh fhe second semesfer. Approximafely fwelve sfudenfs were enrolled in fhe pilof program, which offered non- academically orienfed fraining in fhe fields of pracfical elecfronics, food services, aufomobile mechanics and office services. Accounting Office Mr. Virgil Mayer, Treasurer, is in charge of fhe Accounfing Office and a member of fhe Finance Commiffee, fhe Programs CommiH'ee and fhe Indusfrial Commiffee. Approval of bills, buying of boolcs and merchandise sold in fhe Boolcsfore are all parf of Mr. Mayer's responsibilifies. IBM dafa processing equipmenf shorfened many of fhe accounfing procedures fhis year, wifh IBM charging machines recording aufomafically sfu- denf charges for fhe cafeferia, laundry and boolcsfore. Sfudenf billing and faculfy and sfudenf payrolls, as well as financial sfafemenfs of all fhe college operafions and fhe five indusfries on campus are all handled fhrough fhe new IBM equipmenf. Miss Helen Holm handles fhe miscellaneous charges fhaf come info fhe accounfing office for sfudenf accounfs, using fhe IBM equipmenf. Mr. Dean Diffberner does fhe faculfy payroll and financial sfafemenfs and manages fhe boolcsfore. Mrs. June Melfon is secrefary and supervises accounf for sfudenf loans.
