PROPHECY lfy Sfxiuii Cys NI NUIIAM May 28, 1950. Dear Diary. This being the tenth anniversary of my graduation from that noble institution, the Union City Iligh School. I shall try to record, from bits of' information gleaned along the way, the where- fores. whatfores and whyfores of the members of that unique Class of '43 of which I was a very vital part, t If course, being the celebrity that I am. l've had little trouble keeping in touch with my old school mates. It was only yesterday that I read in a recent copy of the l'nion City paper that Miss.Yirginia Iiaerda land I was greatly surprised to discover that she is still a .llixxf was preparing KJ visit in New York in the home of her distinguished friend. Virginia Allen. who is now making sketches for the book, The :Xdvantages of lflat Ifeet as a Ifirm lfoundation for Success, which is the third successful masterpiece of Professor .lohn Iiell. I also became interested in an article written by the assistant editor of this paper, namely Gerald Garrison, who, I hear, is certain to become editor next year tthat is, if the old one dies off, as is expected J. In his article. he discussed the fact that there is only a very thin line between the genius and the idiot. 'l'he following lilies on this subject interested me very much: Frank Ilays, formerly of Union City, is now under the strict observation of the now famous physician, Xvllllillll Graham Kallenberg. also from Union City. who is performing some startling research w in his efforts to determine whether Hays be the genius or the idiot. NYhile visiting in 'my dear old home town recently, I was asked by Lowell l.ynn, the president of the Chamber of Converse, to make a donation to the Yeteran's lflospital whe informed me, lfoster Frazier and Richard Box are recuperating from the filthy task of aimihi . Tojo. Mot Ilarris was also recovering here from her strenuous service with the XY.-XACS, Cyou know, the kind you chew I. Iiy various tneans I have learned that XYanda Yaught has finally accumulated enough capital from working at Caldwell's to buy out the whole hook store: that Sue XYade is an old maid living out her mournful life on a farm near Cayce, and that Vlulia Greer is now teaching history of Petersburg in a l'resbyterian College. I saw .lanette Cherry and her all-men orchestra at the Kaplucko last night. 'lanette not only directs the orchestra, but she is also a featured singer. ,lust as I left, I got a glimpse of lid Young- blood, the well-known composer of singing ads in operatic form. Ile has just completed an ad called IJent-I-in Chewing Goats, which is sung' every week-day at 9:45 A.M. by that rare melo- dier of the air, Bob Bryson. After slaying frantically f'or these many years. Helen Dowell, I see, has just completed a play entitled, My Bonnie I.ies Uver the Sea, which she has dedicated to her friend, Bonnie Ruth jetton, who is now participating in a heated contest to determine who can float the longest on the Dead Sea. The last verified information I received from Baker Cosby was to the effect that he was president of Alcatraz. I also heard that Iloward Ilurchett, who has been a faithful caretaker in a Chicago zoo, now has the honor of substituting for a highly prized ape which is ill. I would like very much to see Mary Kelly and Mary XYakefield, who, under the assumed names of Rosebud .-Xbbott and Daisy I.ou Costello, are now starring' in the movie, Swing Iligh, Swing Low. Vl'hile visiting in a hospital recently tonly as an obligation to my digestive system I, I saw lien VYyley Hatley. who now teaches the structure of the human body Io nurses in training. She told me that Mary Iirances Summers is now publicity agent for a special group of hermits and that Ilillie 'I'hweatt teaches a certain kind of I.atin, I'ig-l.atin, I believe it is called, in a school of Modern Science. tiene Ilrerup. the great sculptor, has publicly announced that he will chisel the bust of Midget Milner. the Money Miner, or else bust his chisel. -Ieane Moore. the clothes designer tshe designed barrels during the wart, has also undergone some difliculties recently. She has finally completed several unusual outfits. however, for Carolyn Simpson. who is engaged to a famous airplane de- signer and manufacturer. I understand her fiance is now designing her some new airplanes to match her dresses. fl Ullfllllfflf on ftlflt' D21 IPAGIE TXWENTY-SIXJ
