Union City girls vie for titles Two of Union City’s loveliest misses contended for beauty honors this year. Karin Good represented U.C. at the annual Junior Miss pageant held at Winchester on October 2, and brought home the title of “Spirit of Junior Miss”. Miss Indiana National Teenager, Rafaela Farias, competed with 68 other contestants at Indiana Central during the month of June. The girls were judged on appearance, poise, and personality, and Rafaela came out on top winning a $15,000 scholarship to Oklahoma City University, $1,000 in cash and a $1,000 scholarship to Barbizon. During the talent section of the judging, Rafaela danced to the tune of “There’s No Stopping Us” and apparently there wasn’t, as her 1st place runner-up win earned her another $10,000 scholarship to Eckert College in Florida. Successus Staff copes The Successus staff under the able direction of senior editor, Lori Gates, worked hard to record the memories of the ’84-’85 school year. The book was produced without benefit of assigned school time for the staff to meet and coordinate ideas. The staff managed to cope with this difficulty, along with many others, and gave up much of their precious “free time” to meet those pressing deadlines and get the book finished. 1.
