19 THE SUCCES5U5 3d SENIDR5 And now we are seniors 1 VVe have finally reached the goal. When this year is finished, the first milestone in our career will have been marked. How proud we are of being the oldest class in school and of setting an example for the other classes J We are proud, also, of our achievements in different fields of study and in extra-curricular activities. We soon elected our officers: President, Robert Chattin; Vice-president, Wendell Riffle; Treasurer, Fred Snook, Jr.; Secretary, Jane Jellison; Class Advisers, Pearl Alexander and Carolyn Carter. The following members of our class were honored by being placed on the Student Council: Joan Veit, Wendell Riffle, Har- vey Weimer, Eetty Jean Shierling, John Minnich, and Robert Ely. Joan Veit was elected president of the Student Council. The class has greatly distinguished itself in basketball. The first six players were seniors. Those playing on the first team wore: Robert Ely, James Cotter, Robert Chattin, Harold Buckingham, Wendell Riffle, John Minnich, and Robert Brierly. In October we had a party in the dining room. Dancing was the main feature of the evening, and the music was furnished by Lee Anderson's band. On March 16 we gave a lovely party for the juniors and faculty. It was held in the gym, which was beautifully decorated with green and white streamers arranged in the form of a tent. The party began with an informal buffet supper. The delicious menu was in keeping with St. Patrick's Day. The supper was followed by a short program during which Irish songs were sung by the group, and special dancers performed an Irish jig. The remainder of the evening was spent in dancing. Our final work was the class play given in May. The senior class hopes that it has left a record worthy of a prominent position in the school's annals. 16
