SENIOR HISTORY In the year of 1942, twenty-four first graders started their first day of school under Miss Martin (Mrs. Felton). They were: Terry Shepler, John Weston Engle, Millard Miller, Paul Tobias, Melvin Wil- son, Rex Brown, Phil Hoopingarner, Marilyn Boxell, Melba McBride, Phyllis Allen, Phyllis McKenzie, Sunya Sue Wil- son, Morris Harnish, Marlene Piatt, Peggy Thoma, Patricia Kumfer, Ron Hoopin- garner, Billy Yager, Ron Grim, Don Carl, Lynn Robrock, Earl Ross, Tommy Burnau, and Bob Elzey. The last part of the first grade, Anna Mae Newhard joined us from La Otto Grade School. With Miss Martin (Mrs. Felton) still as our teacher, we started the second grade. This year we lost Phyllis Allen to West Union and also John Weston Engle. Three new come:-3 were added. They were: Dave Reavia, Velma Patty, and Phyllis Heath. also lost Rex Brown and Phyllis Heath. ° '''°' - In the fourth grade. Miss Mary Lou Boyd (Mrs. Riggs) was our teacher. We had two new comers this year Mary Corl We ,f,Tn r '' '' ' ' 1-t - °f the fifth grade,' Marc We lost Dave Reavis and Phyllis McKenzie. iviarcn. Mrs. Hammond was our teacher again this year. Morris Harnish went to Bluffton Paul Tobias to Lafayette, Sunya Sue Wilson to Ossian, and Mary Corl went to live in Arizona The next year as seventh graders, we were thrilled to go upstairs and have all the high school teachers as our teachers. This year we gained one and lost three. Leo Travers was the new comer and Wanda Evans, Howard Reed, and Patricia Kumfer were the ones we lost In the eighth grade we didn't lose anybody but gained one, Jim Bunsold The next year, we were green freshmen. Did we ever hate to enter the assembly' We had two new members, Marilyn Carpenter from Fort Wayne and Morris WiUett from Arkansas In our sophomore year we lost Jim Bunsold, Marilyn Carpenter, and Velma Patty. Velma went Ip orn''''' ' ' ' ''' ° ° '° - ' ' ting party and picked Our Junior year was full of excite- ment. It was that year we ordered our class rings from the Balfour Company and put on a play called If Mother Only Knew . Also we lost Earl Ross and Tom Burnau. The senior year came before the 14 seniors realized it. In September our number increased by one more leaving us the grand total of 15. The new stud- ent caused quite a commotion; for he was a German exchange student. His name was Ulrich Hartmann. On October 16, we presented our last play entitled Hobgoblin House . It wasn't long until we found ourselves ordering our caps and gowns and our invitations. Also we were all excited about our senior trip. Wa traveled to Washington D. C. and journeyed on to New York City, return- ing home in time for our graduation exercises on April 26. Now we say good-bye to our class- mates and faculty.
