Our Memories of Union Sholl Be Cherished Forever SENIOR HISTORY Oh! what fun we had our first year of school. Can't you just see Miss Martin come into the room carrying a big box, we were all so excited and pleased when we saw thc brilliantly colored wooden nursery rhyme puzzles, and we thought the crude awkward figures we made out of modeling clay were superb. You can just visualize those letter holders we made from paperplates, can't you? We thought they were something very unique. We studied hard to learn our A-B-C's, reading words, and numbers. We thought we were really doing things when we could spell words like cat and dog. Remember that day in the fifth grade when we were having a first-aid lesson and were gO1I1g to pretend to revive someone who had fainted when suddenly Wilbur Overholt really fainted? Much to our astonishment we had a real patient. Miss Boyd took over then and quickly revived him. Oh! then remember that glorious day in the sixth grade when our gallant basket- ball team beat- the seventh grade's team. We really thought we were going places. Then that terrible day when we were in the seventh l grade - remember we were ' to get initiated by the eighth grade and we were all scared silly at the things they told us we had to do: walk on glass, eat fishworms, jump out of an airplane - but it was fun we really enjoyed ourselves. In the eighth grade we were really busy. We gave a play in front of the whole school the name of it was the Grand Sham's Diamond. That same year in the spring we had a party at Salamonie State Park near Lagro, Ind. When we were in the tenth grade we sponsored a skating party. We made fif- teen dollars from this party, it was the first money our class had ever made. Then that exciting year when we were in the elev- enth grade we gave our first Left to right: Nancy Bowman, treasurer, Sally C1355 Play HMYSWFY In The Burnau, vice-president, Dorothy Smith, secretary, Alice Fritz, news-reporter, Eunice Bradburn, pres. high light of our junior year- That same year our class edited its first school paper. We held a scrap drive in the spring to help make money for our senior trip. Our twelfth year in school was to be our most memorable year. We took a one day trip to Indianapolis to visit the Indiana Legislature and other sights of interest. Around Christmas time that year the sophomore girls home economics class gave the seniors a very delicious dinner. CBaked ham with all the trimmingsj We put out an annual our senior year which we thought was bigger and better than any annual we had ever seen. We also sold Christmas cards to help make money for our senior trip that year, and gave' another play. In the spring of 1953 we took our senior trip to Washington D. C. Everyone enjoyed it and we saw some very beautiful sights and did some very interesting things. The two final events of our twelve years in school were our Baccalaureate and Commencement services held the last of April. All these memories are held dear in the hearts of every senior in the class of 1953. Library we really enjoyed giving that play. It was the
