SPORTS The varsity squad of the Union Center High School basketball team this year consisted of many letter men from the past two years. And also some new members. The team had a hard time getting started this year, losing the first five games without breaking into the winning column. But after the team got started they were not stopped for the next four games. Although the boys didn't win the county tournament,which they entered, they won an award just as important to the school. This award was the Frank Garrett Sportsmanship Trophy. In games played after the county tourney they broke about even on their victories and losses. The varsity team consisted of the following members: Eugene CPeteJ Carey-6'3u, 26O pound, forward, who played 3 years on the varsity. Senior. Gene Carl-6' 2u, 175 pound, center.Gene played 2 years on the squad and 2 years on the varsity. Senior. Rex Douglass-6', 150 pound, forward. Rex played l year on the squad and 2 years on the varsity. Senior. Max Walton-6' Bfn, 178 pound, forward. Max played l year on serve squad and 3 years on the varsity. Senior. ll I Ronnie Fisher-S' 93 a reserve and 3 years on Dick ThomasqS' Agn, serve and 2 years on the Don Caley-5'9n, lu? serve and 2 years on the Norman Stahl-S' 7n, 168 pound, guard.
