Many are 193: -rfw tv life which we will soon have to iight. We have been taught lg 4 UI7'f f'1 the Word of God and abide by it. In order to do this, we ne ff n the breastplate of righteous- ness. The breastplate which is here mentioned is that part of the Christian soldieris armor which guards the vital parts, and preserves him from being mortally wounded or killed outright while engaged in this conflict of life. We believe that holiness of heart and life is the Christian's breastplate. It is an evidence of our sonship, giving us confidence in the fight with all our spiritual foes. This righteousness is inwrought by a faith in Jesus Christ. Until we have come to Christ, and are found in Him, Holiness is impossible for us. The purpose of the breastplate of righteousness is to guard those ave- nues out of which proceed the issues of life. It is needful to put on this breastplate, because the assaults of Satan are always directed against that which is the very life of the soul. His war is with practical holiness. Fur- ther, this breastplate is necessary to give us confidence in the hour of dis- tress and danger. It will preserve the heart whole and sound, whatever the enemy may thrust at us. Righteousness is the breastplate of the Christian, and is a sure defence against the wiles of the Devil. It will protect us as long as we retain a true purpose and are faithful in doing the thing which God has called us to do. O LORD, may we all be found faithful.
