Twelve years ago in Nineteen Hundred Thirty-Nine, a group of youngsters started on the road of knowledge In this group were Dorothy J Seabron, Edith Jackson, Mary A Stephens, John C Demps, Edward Stephens, and Alma Jackson Miss Garrett QMrs Harrelll taught the girls and Mrs Irby CMrs BoykinD taught the boys During the second year Miss Starling was their teacher, Mrs M Macon taught them in third grade Mrs Helper was their teacher :Ln fourth grade and at this time, Bernice Miller, a student of Roosevelt High School in Lake Wales, joined the group Arthur V Thomas, from Alturas, became a member of the group also Mrs Merriweather was the fifth grade teacher and Mrs Lula Longworth was their sixth grade teuzher In sixth grade, Irish Hudnell, Mamie Speights, Annie Marcus, Naomi White and Maretha Richardson joined the class In Nineteen Hundred Forty Five, they became a part of the Junllor High School The following individuals , who came from Brittsville Elementary School in West Bartow, Benjamin William , Ophella Williams, Earleen Haygood, Bernice Leonard, Helen Johnson and Noutrelle Anderson became a part of the group Willie L Wat son of Agricola became a member of the class in the seventh grade and Mrs Hamilton was their teacher In the eighth year, Miss Mitchell QMrs Mclienniej and Miss Cooks were the sponsors and Robert Hudnell joined the class During this tem the boys won the Championship in the Intramural Basketball Tournament During the term of 1946 1947, Katherine Wilcox, Annie Amos, Tillie Amos and Dan Davis cams from Brewster Elementary School in Brewster to join the class From Fort Meade came Elmira Loften, Allene Campbell, Catherine Howard and Walter worth was their sponsor and the girls won the Championship in the campus tourna- ment that term When they became Sophomores, Nolan Suarez, Aaron Johnson, Mae E Green, Freddie Maxwell, Louis Hazzard, Mary E White, Eddie Woodard, Bobbie M Stevens, Murray Hills, Irene Smith, Tubus Hagan, Abraham and Echvard Hardee Joined the class They were former students of J R E Lee Junior High School in Mulberry At this time Sophronia Mobley became a member of the class also Mrs Wadley and Miss Edwards were our sponsors Tillie Mae Amos won the title of Miss Union Academy that term The girls again won the Championship in the Intramural Tourna ment During our Junior year, Mr Blow, Mr Sands and Mr McKennie uere our sponsors. With their help and guidance another member of our class won the title of Miss U A , none other than Mary Ethel White Barbara J Stephens, Lucretia O'Neal and Bennie White became members of the class In the spring of Nineteen Hundred Fifty on the second night in June, we gave the Junior-Senior Prom which we called La Gay Fiesta in Habana Now we are almost at the end of the road We have struggled for approximately twelve years together We hope that :Ln years to some that each and every one of us ull make our lives successful and accomplish whatever task we start We are forty in number with Nolan Suarez at the head He possess the highest average of the class Dorothy Jean Seabron has the second highest average of the class This year the boys won the Championship and the girls won the Consolation in the campus tournament Charles Foster, a member of our class, is now in the United States Army We hope and trust that he too, will be successful :Ln life O Jones.
