History of Class of 1930 ln September, 1926, A.D., a large group of students entered Erwin High School as Freshmen. The group was not only noted for being the largest class to enter that institution of learning, but it was also noted for the beautiful and intelligent faces which were in it. But still the Seniors had the nerve to call us 'igreenfl We thought the Seniors knew it all, so we accepted the title and at our first class meeting we selected as our motto: Green but growing. The following officers were elected: TOM HOWZE.. .. . . . ,,Presidcnt ROBBYE BRADSHAW .. . .. ...Secretary WINTZER MCNABB .. ...Vice-President DOROTHY RATLIFF . . .. . .Treasurer Sophomores! Our class was still large but it had decreased a little. Some few had dropped by the wayside. It was in this year that the talk of the New School Building was started, but talk was all that was accomplished. For our officers for this year we had: EDWARD MILLER . .. , ,, ,,Prcsident RAYMOND TONEY . . Vice-President MARY EMMA HENDRIX ,,,,,,, Secretary-Treasurer XVhen we became Juniors we felt sure we would not be molested by upper classmen, but the Seniors thought they were so much better than we were that they tried to 'boss us. We decided to show them a few things. After having a High School Carnival,', a Beauty Contestn and numerous other things to raise money to give the Seniors a banquet, we decided to fool them by not giving it. f This years officers were: EVA KATE BOGARTW . , ,, ,,,, President WINTZER MCNABB . . . ViCC-PI'CSiClCr1L CHLOE ANNA JOHNSON Secretary-Treasurer On September 3, 1929 a group of sixty-one students entered Erwin High School as Seniors. These were the ones who had not been overcome by the waves of exams, drowned in the sea of matrimony or moved away. Our olhcers were: HIZWSON AUSTIN .. ,.,. , ,, President ROBBYE BRADSHAW .. .ViCC-PFCSMCDI ARCHIBALD MCINTYRE . ..Secrctary-'Treasurer November is a month we shall always remember, because it was then we moved into the beautiful New School Building when hope was almost gone. Now we are stepping out of the halls of our school known as the largest and one of the most brilliant classes this school has ever sent forth. Realizing that we are about to say goodbye, we are not sad, for we have determined not to make a farwell of it, but to meet again as men and women of the world. -M.L.B. PAGE 28
