Forward, you heroes brave! Stand your grounds P' he said: Into the Valley of Learning Passed this nohle band. Forward, the noble band ! Was there a one dismay'd? Not tho, a laggard knew A wise one had blundered. Ours not to make reply Ours not to reason why Ours but to do and die: Into the Valley of Learning Passed this noble band. Education to the right of us, Education to the left of us, Education in front of us Volley'd and thunder'd Under heavy fire and shell, Boldly we passed and well Through the quakes of fear, Into the gloomy mere Passed this noble band. Flash'd our efforts do win, Flash'd our wits to din, Stirring the lazy there, Charging the brave to hear, while All the world wonder'd: Plunged in the battery-smoke Right through the line we broke, Doubt and ignorance Reel'd from our bold attack Shattefd and sunder'd. Then turned they back but not, Not this noble band. Wisdom to the right of them, Wisdom to the left of them, Wisdom behind them We flung and thundered: Stormed at with grit and will, While some gave up and fell, But we who fought so well Came through the stage of fear Back from the age of doubt, All that was left of us- Left of our noble band.
