“Lee informed us that our classmate, Jack Callaway, was now a famous football coach at Notre Dame. Immediately we all knew our next stop would be South Bend, Indiana. When we got to South Bend we drove right up to the University and went in. In the office of the Board of Athletics we saw the former Carolyn Hunt, now Mrs. Jack Callaway. She jumped up with great alarm and could hardly believe her eyes when she saw us march right in. She told us that Jack was in the other room with the football team so we had to drag him away from them. Jack and Carolyn were so glad to see us that they invited us down for supper. Jack introduced us to his ll man football team that was to start with two sets of twins, John and Jane l, and Dwaine and Jim 2. He also has seven other children -- Albert A, Pete 5, Jackie Jr. 6, Leonard 7, Le Roy 8, Roger 9, and Delton 10. Dan said he thought it was about time to look up his brother-in- law who was our old classmate, Rolly Kastens. Rolly had joined the navy about a month after he graduated because after his commencement exercises he offered Martha a diamond and she said she was too young. So he joined the navy and is now an Admiral. He is also married to Martha because a year later when Rolly came back on a furlough she couldn't resist him in his navy suit. We arrived in Port Henry, Ore., and found Holly and Martha in a big carrier there. We sat around and talked a while then Rolly opened a port hole and pulled out his three kids. They were Jackie, Keith, and Rolly Jr., triplets L years old. A motion was then made that we go to San Diego where we would see our last classmate, Shirley Stubbendeck. When we reached San Diago we went to the first USO show we found and sure enough their was Shirley as a comedian. After the show we went back stage and found Shirley who was another one of the surprised seniors of '53. She told us she would have to consult her husbands before going with us. Mrs. Holscher thought maybe Shirley had made a mistake when she said husbands so she asked her about that, and Shirley then explained that she Just couldn't decide which she loved most, Don or Bob Ward, so she had turned Morman and married both of them. She thought that they could keep peace in the family that way. We drove her to her Duplex home and she told us to come in because she wanted us to meet her little Marines. Now that all of us are together we decided to look for our teach- ers. Marlin thought that all three of them--Mr. Rawson, Mr. Epp, and Mr. Munoz--were employed as gamblers in a club at Las Vegas. The next thing we knew we were on our way to Nevada. We were in Las Vegas about five minutes when we found all three of them counting their money. They decided they had made enough money that day to afford going on a trip with us. Our next stop was Reno, where we enjoyed a dinner and dance very much. The next day after our Reno party we all started homeward. As each departed he said that he was sorry we couldn't have been together longer but that he enjoyed every minute of the time we were together.
