Besides being a faculty member, Mr. Johnson is also an avid sports fan and has helped to run the clock at our basketball games. Jeff Hutto, Jason Manasco, and Shelly Pinkerton received Gold Medals for reading the most books and Jason turned in the most money. The seniors of ’81 chose PLEASED TO MEETCHA as their play. This three act comedy was performed in March with the help of a few juniors to finish out the cfist. The Jr.-Sr. Banquet of 1981 was held in May at Tournwood’s in DeQueen. She has enjoyed playing basketball and running track for the past six years. She is a member of FBLA, Student Council, Annual Staff, and participated in the Senior play. Carla is 5’5“ tall with brown hair eyes. She enjoys participating in sports, being with people, and working with her horses. After graduation, she plans to attend college. Jeffery Alexander, son of Mr. Mrs. Robert Alexander, has attended Umpire for the past twelve years. He has been active in Student Council, Annual Staff, Fire Marshals, and participated in the Senior play. In his spare time, Jeff enjoys hunting, fishing, and other outdoor sports. He is the treasurer of the Senior Class. After graduation, Jeff plans to attend college and play college basketball. She has played for Umpire for six years. Jerrie is also a member of the Annual Staff, Student Council, FBLA, and participated in the Senior play. She is 5 ft. tall and has green eyes and brown hair. Some of Jerrie’s favorite hobbies are horseback riding and learning about animals. Jeffery Alexander is the son of Mr. Mrs. Robert Alexander. Jeff has played basketball here for the past six years and is a forward on the senior boys ’ team this year. He is 6'1' tall and has brown hair and eyes. He is a member of the Annual Staff, Fire Marshals, and participated in the Senior play. In his spare time he enjoys hunting and Fishing. Besides receiving the District and Conference Championship Trophies, the Lady Wildcats also won the Dierks Tournament. The Jr. Boys proudly display the District Championship Trophy. They were also Runners-Up in the Conference. They will lose 5 starters for next season. It will be a rebuilding year in which the boys will be challenged to keep up the Umpire tradition. The Umpire Sr. Girls finished the season with a 24-3 record. Two of this year’s starters return next year along with an enthusiastic group of so- phomores who are willing and anxious to fill in the gaps. The Umpire Jr. Boys finished the season with a 14-3 record. There will be two returning starters next year. The boys team will be small next year but should not be underestimated. The Umpire Jr. Girls finished the season with a 16-1 record. Four of the five starters will be returning next year. With another year’s experience behind them, the future looks bright.
