Mrs. Marguerite Edwards, who in her years of unselfish devotion to teaching has enriched the lives of her students and prepared them to under- stand and challenge this beautiful yet mysterious world. A scholar and student herself whose pur- suit of knowledge, range of interest, and depth of comprehension is unique even in the Age of Space. And a friend and teacher who has been a mentor and guide to those of us who have sought a richer, fuller life ahead. But above all, a woman whose Christian example and firm belief in the divine purpose of the Almighty has given us all a brighter faith and a new hope for the future. Mrs. Marguerite Edwards 7 o 12 17 18 20 Interclub Council Interclub Council consists of all presidents and group leaders at UHS. They formed in the hope of creating a committee of leaders that would bring organi- zation among our many clubs and their activities. 22 Student Council Robert Hall Vice President Leslie Collins President Gary Blaine Secretary-Treasurer Busy Year The Student Council, the present and future leaders of Umatilla High School, worked hard to improve the school and serve the student body. The Student Council actively encouraged such projects as the Beta Library Club Door-decorating Contest and the Key Club Clean-up Day, as well as presenting the tradition- al Homecoming Parade and this year’s daredevil tri- cycle race. The Bulldogs suffered from the lack of weight on the line, and injuries toward the end of the season cut sharply into the depth of the team. Head coach again this year was Mr. Ed McGoni- gal, with coaches Walker and Sheets assisting. 58 70 Fightin9 Bulldogs First Row, left to right: Bruce Harrison, Jess Dotson, John Sparks, Robert Hall, Otis Lee, Michael Taylor, Richard Allen. The Pride of the Bulldogs throughout the season showed clearly that despite a los- ing record, every member on the team was a winner. 65 Varsity Cheerleaders The 1970-71 Varsity Cheerleaders boosted U.H.S. school spirit. Without these girls' efforts in back- ing up our team, the games would have been a little less cheery. This year’s cheerleaders were: Leslie Collins, Captain; Debbie Wiygul, Co-Capt; Candy Allen; Katrina Clanton; LaMerle Elton; Suzy Klingbcil; Cookie Lunsford and Robyn Van Hoose. 66 Junior Varsity First Row: Bobby Klingbeil, Ken Green, Jamie Bryant, Mike Bakich, Richard Britzius.
