Another very important project was Homecoming. This year Homecoming was one of the best yet and was made possi ble through the hard work of many Stu- dent Council members. Our President. Kenneth Roundtree, helped us to achieve many of our destined goals and helped to prepare the school for those who followed behind. This year the Key Club motto is “We Build , and with this as their standard, the Key Club of Umatilla had sought to give Umatilla High School an active service organization. To accomplish the needs of U. H. S.. the Key Club worked early this year to raise the neces- sary funds for its projects. The Halloween King and Queen Contest contributed as the Key Club's major money-making project. A portion of this money was used to help sponsor the Homecoming Dance. The aims and objectives are: 1) To encourage and promote the athletic program for Umatilla High School; 2) To promote sportsmanship and the attainment of higher goals; 3) To encourage academic improve- ment; 4) To build and sustain school spirit and morale; and 5) To reward those lettermen who continue to participate in the sports in which they have lettered. Upon attaining his fourth letter, a member receives an award jacket. Money making projects are necessary in order to pur- chase these jackets and our annual Christmas Tree Sale is the best known. The team ended with 7 wins and 3 losses in the regular season. This was only attained through the help of their ever present coaches.
