Grant, the champions of the East Valley League last year, returned this year strong in most departments, but hampered by young and inexperienced pitching. Whether winning or losing, the Lancer nine always played good baseball and of- fered strong competition to their tough East Valley League foes. The most outstanding players were shortstop Tom Macleod, captain of the team and All-League candidate, who played and hit well all year long, Rick Amezola, first base, Mike Gordon, third base and possible All-League player, and Leonard South, with fine pitching performances. Tenth graders, who give Grant a bright future, were pitchers Jeff Pentland and John Schroeder, and catcher Ron McMackin.
