In addi- tion to character-building programs, the boys were active in an athletic pro- gram, school and commu- nity service. Highlighting spring meetings were a series of lectures on the worldngs of the Portland Police Department by spec- ialists. Members also participated in the Oregon Youth Legislature in Salem in May which gave students a better understanding of the state government. 153

CLEFS service M, A I WWI 'L YW Clefs Club is an interest club and also a chapter of Modern Music Masters which is a national music society. The activities of Clefs have included teach- ing the freshman school songs, Christmas caroling at hospitals , going on a hay- ride, selling pop corn balls, giving an annual Alum Party, the Chinatown dance, the installation pot- luck of new officers and new members, and selling cokes at the Spring Show.
