USIC loving students of our school have found in this year's choral class, offered for the first time in several years, an unusual opportunity to increase their knowledge and appreciation in the field of vocal music. The class, under the direction of Otto H. Reichardt, meets at 12:30 in the music roomy ., however, because of the limited time, the accomplishments of the group have QR, been somewhat hampered. ' . XX 5 'THE class sang for the Washington's and. Lincoln's birthday program, for Q Christmas, and for the Mark Twain Centennial celebration, which was given Xml by Miss Giles' sophomore English class. ml, T HE greatest performance of the year was the operetta, Polished Pebbles, to-' Q by Otis M. Carrington, which was given in place of the annual student body 3... L play. Presented on March 27, under the direction of Mr. Reichardt and Miss sl - Kaiser, it was enthusiastically received by a large audience. Aided by a chorus N. . of thirty, and with accompaniment by the orchestra, the following students had , Fri the leading parts: Lorraine Pike, Louisa Hinds, Lorena Church, Norton Beebe, 'N Audrey Doak, Margaret Somerset, John Dane, Ernest Thornton, Lulu Cook. If school spirit seems to have revived, this organization is in a great measure responsible for it. Playing at all games, programs, and rallies, it has added greatly to pep and enthusiasm in school affairs. The orchestra has given several splendid performances this year. The most appreciated of these was their accompaniment for the operetta. On the evening of May 22 the entire music department delighted its listeners with a program of music. An A Capella Choir from the choral class, selections by the Beginners' Orchestra and the Advanced Orchestra, and various solos were among the program numbers. USIC

The staff is composedof the members of the jour- nalism class. The paper is published every week, and consists, on the average, of six mimeographed pages. I HIRTY-THREE issues have been published during this year, and papers were exchanged with over twenty schools at different times, schools as distant as Spirit Lake, Idaho. I HIS staff of '36 expresses the hope that such ability and organization Will be developed that the news of the school will be published in a printed paper very shortly. U PUBLICATIQNS
