Smior 611155 Prophecy lAs we the Underclassmen see ity As we look into the future of 1978, we see the graduating class of 1959, all participating in their personal ambitions. As we circle the Emmert Airport, we see that Ukiah's population has increased consider- ably, since 1959. Now that we have landed, we walk into the lobby, and go to thank the president for a very pleasant trip. But who do we find---but JANICE EMMERT, who's am- bition was business and it surely looks like she has gone quite a ways. She invites us to lunch and as we are riding down to the prosperous and luxurious cafe called the Trail Room, we come to a screeching halt. Who do we find in front of us, but MELVIN CHRISTIAN. He explains his sudden appearance by telling us he is the Game Warden for the Ukiah District. He goes on to say he is chasing BURTON JARVIS, who has stolen some cattle for his ranch in South America. Melvin excuses himself to continue the chase. After lunch Miss Janice Emmert drops us off at CONNIE GILLILAND'S who is now Mrs. Tom Buffington. Watch out! Here comes a hurricane, sorry it was only the eleven little Buffingtons on their way to good ol' Ukiah Grade School. Connie Jo tells us that the oldest one of the children is eleven years old. She also tells us she is working part time as a secretary for Mac in Ukiah High School. We hear that Mac should have retired years ago but is still working loyally for his present and future students. Connie Jo says she has to go to work now, so we walk with her as far as one of the popular stores down town. We meet MARGARET KENDALL coming out of one of the big skyscraper buildings. Mag- got tells us that she is a Dental Surgeon and has an office on the nineteenth floor, because she is getting married one more time. This is to make her marriage scores even. She gives us a hasty good-by, because she has to hurry home to change her clothes. She says her fiance is waiting patiently to take her out to dinner. As we are crossing the street we see MELVIN CHRISTIAN with BURTON JARVIS in tow. Mel tells us that the cattle have been returned. For a few moments we converse with Jar- vis, before they take him away. He tells us that his ranch has not been very prosperous. That is why he stole the cattle. He finds out the reason for our being in Ukiah so he tells us that MARGARET JONES is staying at the Ukiah Hotel and is taking a secretarial course at the Ukiah University. We bid farewell and signal the rocket taxi service, which takes us to the Ukiah Hotel. We find that Jones has just returned from the University, packing a load of books and looking very tired. We talk awhile and find that she is getting married as soon as Jim Strong returns from Germany and she finishes her secretarial course. We leave Ukiah with happy hearts to have learned that the graduating class of 1959 are so successful in their ambitions. I0
