Verlin Vincent Chief of Police Admired for his fairness and his dealings with others. Verlin’s efforts were appreciated by all. GIRLS LEAGUE Girls League is an organization whose membership is made up of every girl in the school. Under the capable direction of Janie Odekirk, president; and her associates, Zetta Lee, vice-presi- dent; Fern Richens, secretary; and Laura Fox, historian, the Girls League had a very successful year. I heir outstanding achievements were: Girls Jamboree, Big Sister Day. Christmas Dance, Girls Day Dance, and the Girls Tea. BUS DRIVERS 20 Rs FRLL began, I saw the Utes Begin their toils anew, Filling days with Football, Dances, Plays, and Classes too. Steve Case is one of the best com- edians in the entire school. To top it off he is talented in sports Sherry Bullock is kind and consider- ate to everyone—even teachers. Luella Bodily is that little flirt you see here and there, smilinu nd laughing with everyone. Arlene S. Billings was happy, cute, and sw et single, but she’s happier, cuter, and sweeter married. Sterling Kendall is a boy we're proud of. He shows us all what good sportsman- ship means. Neldon Hacking is just plain depend- able. He has to think but wow! when he does. Carma Rae Hacking is that cute blonde that's always on the go. Watch her sometime and you’ll see. Norita Simper George Searle Duayne Wall Terry Anderson is in all sports, has cur- ly hair, friendly eyes and a good smile. Dalvis Kendal! with his friendly rmile and personalitv is liked by all his fellow stud- ents. is small but fine. She's a good friend to have at dear old Uintah. is tall, nice, and fun to be around. He is a great help on the stage crew. with his car and his knowledge of mechan- ics gets around alright. President..... Vice-President Secretary S. D.......... Leah Rae Davis If betting was not against our policy, we would be willing to bet that she hasn't an ene- my in the whole school. Norma Luck or lucky Norma, we don’t care which, but either way she looks like a doll in her cute clothes. Phil Colton is knov n for two things: First he is Boys Pep president and second he is bunged up in football more than any- one else in the school. Connie Luck is cute, sweet and de- pendable. All of these together should spell out her name. Leon Kenney Everyone knows and likes him and he knows everyone and likes them. Roy Freestone is really and truly an artist. His ability lies not only in cartooning though. Kenneth Feltch Velma Despain Elaine Davis is a ladies man because the girls wouldn’t let anyone else get near him. is tiny and cute with a smile that would make anyone feel at ease. is known by all for her voice and her laugh. She’s always happy, or anyway, always laugh- ing. Angala Chivers is really a doll with a personality to match. Here's a gal for the books. Ron Abegglan is one of our friendly Utes of whom we are really proud for the way he handles the ball. Clair Hopkins has really done a top job as president of the seniors. He supports the school in every- thing. Phillip Manwaring with his studious and fine ways, is really a character of way back. Brent Roberts is that little guy with the big personality. You will know him by his neat dress habits, too. Gary Hatch is much better known as Red. We guess the reason is that red hair which is the envy of every girl. Walter McCoy has a brain that he sure knows how to use. He wasn't born with a camera but he knows how to use it too. Etta Pace truly has what you would call a baby face. She is fun and loves to laugh. Earl Gross is that tall, good-look- ing, smart guy that really knows his sports. Janie Odekirk is a smart and beauti- ful gal, but to really describe her, you must mention her sweet and even-tempered nature. DeLyle Rowley with his sly grin always has something new up his sleeve. Connie Lundell is the gal who is al- ways writing verses in this yearbook for ex- ample. Carma Merrill is a gal that is fun and loving, diligent, and nice to know. Margie Hacking is a friend anyone would like to have. This gal marches around everyday in a fashion show all her own. Lloyd Wetenkamp is one of the dominant personalities of the whole school. He's al- ways up to something. Nada Hatch always has fun and she makes you have fun when you're around her. Vaughn Mott has the features which all girls look for. Karl Pope that guy with a sense of humor, that quy that can draw, that guy that can act, that quy! Eloye Burns is peppy, active, and handsome, not to men- tion being smart and fun to be around. Kay Jacobe or Pepper with her innocent sense of hu- mor is truly a school boy's dream. Laretta Bowden shows her talent in dramatics by her read- ings, and talks. She’s quite a gal. Sharon James is happy, industrious, and good. What more could you expect in a girl? Marva Billings is very tiny but she has a huge smile with a personality to match. Willie Jaramillo is one of those who writes the messaqes sent over Smoke Sig- nals. He's quite a guy. Barbara Bodily Favorite word, good- ness; favorite color, red or white; favorite pastime, boys. Joyce Robbins Every boy in the school has an eye open for Joyce. Take a look at her and you can see why. Jackie Bath likes people, drawinq, painting, food, and clothes. 25 Ernest Roybal We hated to lose this friendly guy, but Cali- fornia gained from our loss. Naoma Karren This bundle of joy mix- ed with locks of brown- ish blond hair is one of the top girls in her class. Pat Sutton With her gleaming hair and a pretty smile, she is one of the prettiest girls in the school. Marlene Twitchell is good in drama and in school. You'll never forget her eyes once you've seen them. Jone Jones is one of those lucky talented few. She not only plays the piano, but also sings. Dwain Hall admired by everyone from the 7th grade on up for the way he can run and the way he trains for it. Eleanore Hacking with her brains and personality is really fun to know and to be a- round. Donna Hulburt is just full of fun and her friendship is one not hard to gain. Reed Durfee is the kind of boy you don't meet just any- where. He's someone it's nice to know. Una Harrison with her abilities in sports and so many other things is lots of fun to know. He really makes music with his trombone, too. Ellen Morgan is just full of fun and excitement. She's al- ways on the ball. lone Gurr hails from Bonanza. She is sweet and really lots of fun to be around Alla May Roberts Nice. cute, and full of life all mean Alla May. Frank Peters The school would have a hard time getting along without Frank. He's quite a guy. George D. Merkley is tall with black hair and a shy shy grin. He is really a tease, but we like him anyway Rita McConkie is one of the few girls who hasn't clipped off her long beautiful hair. She looks more like a girl than the rest put together. Ronald V. Hatch is always in something up to his neck, but he's someone it's fun to know. Glade Holfeltz is so outstanding in everything we hate to see him graduate. Elaine M. Hullinger is that ambitious little gal who cooks, sews and keeps house, but never gets behind in school activities. Floyd Hullinger is tall, dark and hand- some. This guy is look- ed up to by everyone. David Karren is a serious - minded senior who gets all he can out of school. He's one in a million. Ray E. Pace is the Romeo of school. He likes to give each girl a twirl. Everyone likes him and his car. Ruth Dudley with her talents galore does any job she has up right. Sally Liebhardt with her smile and friendship for everyone has a personality that's tops. Clyde Ruppe with his grin and his abilities, is really nice to know. Marty Rominger is handsome and tall, and besides that he's a wonderful dancer. Denis Bilbey with his extra-ordinary laugh and high spirits is an outstanding per- son to know. Lee Walker and his car. are the kind you like to know and be around. Elinor King is the friendly president wfl are so lucky to have. We're really very proud of the job she's done. Charlie Johnson is the smiling editor of the school paper. He carries many other pos- itions besides. Ferrel Glines We not only hope, but we know this guy will go a long way in life. Philip Smith with his smile and sense of humor has made a hit with all the kids at school this year. Janet Johnson is darling in every way. She has a friendly smile for everyone. Merlin Johnson Catherine S. Galley is plenty good-looking. All of the girls would sure like a chance with him. is full of fun and ex- citement. Phillip Pope has ability and makes use of it by working extra hours. He's a de- pendable guy. Steve Tate As far as we know, he's the only boy with brov n hair that's red- dish gold and a smile to match. Kay Glines is always on the go. Her smile and her tal- ents make her quite a girl. Jay Slaugb. Some people call him a tease, but he doesn't tease all the time, he sleeps once in awhile. Connie Warren is really kept busy by the school, because she can do anything you want done. Janet Robins is talented and small. She has worked hard to do her job well, and she has. Verlin Vincent has won many friends with his smile and his friendly ways. He works hard at everything he does. Upon finding that he has remarried, she never lets him know that she has seen him. However, he learns of her presence and seeks diligently to find her. 1 he Princess learns ol his former marriage and finds Tchao-ou-Niang. a beggar. The original bride is convinced that she should slay on as wife and the Princess lakes the back seat to her in the refound happiness of this young couple. The Utes started their 1955 basket- ball season rolling by taking a tour ol some class “A” teams. I bey won one game from Ogden, 67-60. 1 be other three games were dropped to South Cache, 55-46, in an overtime; to Weber, 52 46; and Wasatch, a FT school, edged the Utes 52-53. 1 he Juab Wasps, coached by Marcus Garrett and Clark Greenhalgh. both former coaches at UHS. bowed to tlie Redmen 53-51. Next the Utes thumped the South Summit Wildcats 48-38, but were defeated by the Carbon Dinosaurs 54-42. T he Red- skins gave the Devils a hot time to win by a 66-40 score on the Utes’ home floor. Even on the Devils court, the Reds'kins brought back a 35-14 victory. The Utes got clipped in their first league game of the season by the Union Cou- gars 52-40. But undaunted, they traveled to Altamont to stampeed the Longhorns 76-43. Next the Redskins wound up on top of a lop-sided 80-20 score against Pabiona.
