ORRIK Lieutenant Commander ORRIK was graduated from Columbia University and commissioned as an Ensign, USN, in June, 1956, when he commenced Underwater Demolition Training, after which he served as Diving Officer of UDT -ONE. Following tours as First Lieutenant in the USS BAYFIELD CAPA-335 and as Operations Officer in the USS TINCTEY IDD-5391, he went to Vietnam, There, he was an advisor to first, the Vietnamese Junk Force in l Corps, and then the 26th River Assault C-roup in the Mekong Delta. He spent the next two years at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, earning a Master's Degree, and then joined USS UHLMANN. COMMANDING OFFICER Commander Herbert B, DOWSE, Jr., Commanding Officer of the USS UHL- MANN KDD-6875 graduated from Bates College, Lewiston, Me., in 1952 and subsequently attended Navy Officer Candidate School in Newport, R, I. He received his commission as an Ensign in the Naval Reserve in October 1952. After being comrnissioned, Commander DOWSE served in USS PITTSBURCI, CCA-72.I until 1955. After this, he had a tour of duty in USS HASSAYAMPA IAO-l45I, serving as First Lieutenant. In l958, Comnaander DOWSE was sent to duty with Naval Communications Station, Pearl Harbor, where he served until November I959, as Personnel Of- ficer. Following this, he served as Op- erations Officer aboard USS JARVIS ' IDD-79lI and USS PRICHETT KDD-5611. ln l962. he returned to shore duty with the Fleet Readiness Section of the Staff of Commander-in-Chief, U.S,, Pacific Fleet. ln 1965, Commander DOWSE went to duty in USS WILKINSON IDL-51 where he served as Executive Officer until receiving orders to duty in USS 'UHLMANN IDD-687D --me-nm
