Grant Swing Band provide music at assemblies, dances and other activities of our school. The Swing Band was organized to fulfill the need of some of the music students who have a desire to play dance band style of music and also give them the opportunity to perform at school functions. This gives them the training they will need for future professional appear- ences. Mr. Todd works tirelessly with the boys by working out the harder parts, arranging music where it can be played, and teaching the band members self-control and good behavior. 24 W Mr. Todd takes time out of his busy schedule to compose new arrangements.

For they are the ones who do a large sum of the behind the scenes work of gathering information for stories appearing in our school newspaper. There was one issue in which the Beginners re- ceived all the glory, however, and that was their annual publication of the newspaper, where they took over the entire newspaper staff and did all the work. This class for beginning journalism students enables them to study and experience the many phases of journalistic work before they take over the responsibility of holding the position of editor or other important jobs on our school newspaper and yearbook.
