CapTain ThornTon C. Miller, ChC, USN, began his Tour of duTy as Senior Chaplain of The Naval Air Training Bases in AugusT f 1943, afTer having reTurned from The Pacific Area where he was DisTricT Chaplain aT ; Pearl Harbor. He was sTaTioned aT Pearl Harbor on ThaT TaTeful day, December 7, 1941, when The Japs aTTacked. CapTain Miller, ordained as a minisTer aT The early age of 16, received his religious educaTion aT The Johnson Bible School and graduaTed from Drake UniversiTy. Follow- ing graduaTion, he held pasToraTes in WesT Virginia, Iowa and California, before enTer- ing The U. 8. Navy Chaplains' Corps. Since .r enTering The U. 5. Navy in 1920, CapTain Miller has had a long and disTinguished career serving The spiriTual, welfare and recreaTional needs of Naval Personnel and Their families. CapTain Miller's impressive record includes duTy boTh ashore and afloaT. He served on The Submarines Beaver ancl Camden; U.S.S. Frederick, U.S.S. WrighT, U.S.S. SalT Lake CiTy, U.S.S. ChaumonT in The China Area. , .
