'Ir 'A' 'A' ir ir Another field was necessary to instruct the overflow of cadets going into their instrument training in Corpus Christi. ln order to cope with the situation in the best way possible, Chase Field, or better known as Beeville, was commissioned on June l, T943, to give cadets necessary instruction in instrument and radio flying The syllabus is the h ' ' some as t at of the Main Base instrument squadrons, except cadets do their radio work on a range. Planes flown are Vultees and SNJ's. The Link Trainer department is well equipped with 48 Link trainers, instructors and maintenance personnel, Chase Field has many facilities with which to offer excellent recreational o ortunities f 't l pp or is personnel. There is a arge swimming pool, Ship's Service, with regular restaurant menus, motion pictures, bowling, billiards and any type of athletics for officers and cadets and enlisted personnel. There is a new chapel which is typical of all auxiliary fields. This Squadron is the largest in the history of Naval Aviation.
