SENIOR OFFICERS of Squadron T7 Lieutenant Barton F. Jones, USNR Executive Officer. Lieutenant Commander R. C. Le Feuer, USN, Commanding Offi cer. Lieutenant H. E. Erickson, USNR Personnel Officer. ll illilt0 Expert navigators, radiomen, sailors, and aviators, are the men who complete the syllabus in Squadron 17. Here the flying cadet learns to use the wind while taxiing on sea, navigate with speed and accuracy, become familiar with all types of banging, and become proficient in fixed and free gunnery. In this type of scout and observation work, the cadet usually flies the Navy OSQU. This plane may either take off from the sea or be catapulted from the decks of a battleship or cruiser of the fleet. The syllabus is quite diversified since these aviators must know many things for which a land-based aviator has no need. Their training includes formation flying, extensive day and night navigation, gunnery, night flying, strafing, glide and dive bombing, and depth charge attacks on both still and moving targets. Upon completion of the course at Squadron T7, the Naval Aviator may well be proud that he has received the world's best instruction from the vvorld's best instructors.
