Ti lll'B wALDRoN FIELD Torpedo Bombing is the most important phase of their training and after many hours of formation attacks on moving targets, also single plane procedures, cadets soon develop the smoothness and accuracy demanded of Naval Aviators. The end of this long training is realized when a new Naval Ensign receives his gold wings. The future will be spent in building up flying time at one of many operational bases throughout the country. With enough experience obtained in the type of combat aircraft they will fly with the fleet, these Naval Aviators break into combat with the assurance that the Navy has given them the best possible training available and are de- pending upon them to perform their missions with success-Naval Aviators will! Used in every large scale attack by the Navy, their iob is to fly into the combat area which is the thickest with enemy defense. The purpose of the Torpedo Squadrons is to torpedo enemy convoys, task forces and any enemy ship within their range. Similar to the other fighter squadron syllabus, Squadron Sixteen instructs its students in the handling of the fast SMI Cadets are also familiarized with the larger planes which he will fly upon receiving his commission. A review of formation flying begins his training and socn after this is complete he begins practicing gunnery, dive bombing, and navigational flights.
