E Sq ,I UH-l9F Sikorsky ,fi gy J TQ k,L..?Q' AH, X Ellyson Field, the Navy's only training base for helicopter pilots in the Navy, Marine Corps, and the ast Guard, is named for Commander Theodore G. Ellyson, who qualified for this honor in April 1911. It located nine miles northeast of Pensacola on the Davis Highway fAlcaniz Street extendedj near the in section of US 90 and US 90 Alternate. The training cycle as it is now presented to the student consists of an extensive ten week training urse, which includes ground school instruction in rotary wing aircraft principles, 30 hours of basic in- uction in the Bell TH-13M QHTL-65 single rotor helicopter, and 30 hours advanced training in an erational type helicopter, the UH-19F fHO4Sl, UH-25 CHUPQ, or SH-EHGIUH-34D CHSS-IJHUSQ. l ,xv Xl 4' K 3Q X FN 'Fxfwxxx sl X s.
