N'1IS NEWPORT A Civil XVar formed XVIICH tl1e N'l'S Blue VVaves and the NAPS Commo- dores clashed on the gridiron. Our i1n- penetrable li11e kept NTS Without a first down, while Ollf offense chewed 11p the yardage for its fourth straight victory. Playing with the exuberant school spirit which was kindled a11d heralded i11 o11r big pep rally parade, NAPS turned in a nearly perfect game. VS. U.S.S. YOSEMITIL Tl1a11ksgiving Day ended our seaso11 as we played the U. S. S. Yosemite. Cost- ly fumbles by tl1e Connnodores niade our victory a difficult one. ,msg l4l VS. DE LA SALLE Pre-season serimmaging with De La Salle gave the Commodores the oppor- tunity to show what they had to offer. VVith vigorous oilenses and defenses by both line and baeklield our team showed very few visible defects and looked ready and eager for the coming season. VS. U. S. S. KEARSARGE Although hampered by restricted prac- tice, the U. S. S. Kearsarge Raiders gave the NAPS the hardest and most thrilling game of the year. After trailing for almost the entire contest, the Coin- modores completed a last minute touch- down pass, which gave us the slim two point lead that brought victory. VS. BOSTON REC. STA. The thought of playing the First Nav- al District Champs, Boston Receiving Station, for our initial game of the 1949 season dicl not daunt the lighting spirit of the Commodores. Fumbles. penalties, and touchy nerves marked the opening half. From then on. however, a driving offensive paved the way to our victory.
