,msg l4l VS. DE LA SALLE Pre-season serimmaging with De La Salle gave the Commodores the oppor- tunity to show what they had to offer. VVith vigorous oilenses and defenses by both line and baeklield our team showed very few visible defects and looked ready and eager for the coming season. VS. U. S. S. KEARSARGE Although hampered by restricted prac- tice, the U. S. S. Kearsarge Raiders gave the NAPS the hardest and most thrilling game of the year. After trailing for almost the entire contest, the Coin- modores completed a last minute touch- down pass, which gave us the slim two point lead that brought victory. VS. BOSTON REC. STA. The thought of playing the First Nav- al District Champs, Boston Receiving Station, for our initial game of the 1949 season dicl not daunt the lighting spirit of the Commodores. Fumbles. penalties, and touchy nerves marked the opening half. From then on. however, a driving offensive paved the way to our victory.
