511555055 ,JQQU5 5f5w5r5em Camp Funston was first opened at the start of World War I. It was named for General Frederick Funston, a Kansas soldier and hero of the Spanish-American War. Camp Funston was first under the command of Major General Leonard Wood who trained several divisions for combat in France. The camp was rebuilt in 1940 as a training area sending men who trained here to all parts of the globe. At present the 10th Infantry Division Cretaining the history, combat honors. and famous powder-keg patch of the Tenth Moun- tain Divisionl is active as a training division.
