Deput Commanding General BRIGADIER GENERAL JAMES H. CASH, born in Glencoe, Oklahoma, 16 March 1904, was appointed Zd Lieutenant, In- fantry upon completion of ROTC studies at Oklahoma State University. In january 1936 he was ordered to active duty with the Civil- ian Conservation Corps in the Oklahoma district. June 1941 he was ordered to Headquarters, VIII Corps area at Fort Sam Hous- ton, Texas, where he served until August 1942, when he was assigned as Inspector General of 11th Armored Division. He served overseas during World War II, in England, France, Germany, and Czechoslovakia, as the Inspector General of the XXII Corps. General Cash was assigned to the Third Army in November 1945 as the Army Inspector General. In January 1948 General Cash returned to the states and served in the Inspector General's office, Washington, D. C. Gen- eral Cash left Washington to attend the Advanced Officers, In- fantry School at Fort Benning, Georgia, Upon graduation, he was ordered to Fort Dix, New jersey, and successively as Command- ing Ollicer of the 47th Infantry, Deputy Post Commander, and Commanding Officer of the Go Devil Regiment C6Oth In- fantryj. In 1951 General Cash returned to Germany with the V Corps. In June 1952, he became Commanding Officer of the 102d Infantry. He then became Chief of Staff of the 43d Di- vision, and later Chief of Stalf of the 5th Division. In july 1954, the General returned to the states and was assigned as Executive to the G-3, Continental Army Command, Fort Monroe, Virginia. In June 1955 he was promoted to Deputy G-3. In February 1956 he was assigned to KMAG, in Korea, as Senior Advisor to the 5th Korean Corps, and later as Senior Advisor to the Commanding General of the Korean Army Train- ing Command. Upon leaving Korea, General Cash was assigned as Chief of the Army Section Military Assistance Advisory Group, japan. In july 1959 he was assigned to his present duties. Brigadier General JAMES H CASH Colonel FREDERICK J. CLARKE COLONEL FREDERICK J. CLARKE, born in Little Falls, New York, in 1915 entered the service in 1957 with a bachelor of science degree from the U,S. Military Academy at West Point, New York. Colonel Clarke received a master's degree in civil engineering from Cornell University in 1940 and also attended Haward's Business School's advanced management program in 1954. He is a graduate of the National War College. Prior to World War II, Colonel Clarke held various assign- ments which included service with the 5th Engineer Regiment CCombatJ, the 15th Engineer Battalion CCombatJ and the 38th Engineer Regiment CCombatj. During World War II he served with the 38th Engineer Regiment CCombatD and on the staff of Army Service Forces. Since World War II the colonel has served with the Manhattan Engineer District, Armed Forces Special Weapons Project, Okinawa Engineer District and on the staff of the Deputy Chief of Logistics before entry to the War College. Colonel Clarke came to Fort Leonard Wood from his last assignment as District Engineer of the Trans-East Engineer District in Karachi, Pakistan. Among the colonel's decorations are the Legion of Merit and the Commendation Ribbon with Medal Pendant and Oak Leaf Cluster. Chief of Staff

MAJOR GENERAL T. A. LANE, born in Revere, Massachu- setts, 19 November 1906 was graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1928. General Lane graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1932, the Engineer School in 1933, the Air Command and Staff School in 1949 and the National War College in 1953. Prior to World War II, General Lane held various assign- ments which included serving with the Nicaragua Canal Survey from 1928 to 1931 and as an instructor in Civil Engineering and Military History at the United States Military Academy from 1955 to 1939. During World War II he served in the Omce of the Air Engineer, Headquarters Army Air Forces, Washington, D. C., until October 1943, organizing and training aviation engineer troop units to support the Army Air Forces. General Lane's next assignment took him to General Headquarters, Southwest Pacific Area, where the General served as operations officer on the theater engineer staff in the campaigns from New Guinea to the Philippines. He entered Japan with the Occupation Forces in August 1945. Returning to the United States in 1945, General Lane served in Washington, D. C., on a joint Operations Review Board Major General T. A. LANE Commanding General convened to write amphibious doctrine for the Military Services. From 1946 to 1948 he was Engineer Instructor and Chief of the Logistics Division, Air Command and Staff School, Air Uni- versity, Maxwell Field, Alabama. From 1948 to 1950 he was District Engineer, Little Rock, Arkansas. From 1950 to 1952, General Lane was District Engineer, Okinawa. In 1952 he attended the National War College. In 1953 to 1954 he was in the office, Chief of Engineers, Wash- ington, D. C., as an assistant to the Chief of Engineers for policy planning. In july 1954 he became Engineer, Army Field Forces, Fort Monroe, Virginia. General Lane's last assignment was that of Engineer Com- missioner, District of Columbia, Washington, D. C., before he assumed command of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, 1 August 1957. General Lane attended the Army's Command Manage- ment School at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, in December 1957.
