I ,I yi ll,,Vil'lll.,l.,,: IH, ll BRIGADIER GENERAL ROBERT HALDANE DEPUTY COMMANDING GENERAL General Haldane served as an enlisted man in the Army Air Corps early in World War ll. In 1944 he entered the U.S. Military Academy and gradu- ated in 1947. He was a platoon leader and later a company commander in the 1st Infantry Division in Germany until 1952 when he joined the 3rd Infantry Regiment at Fort Myer, Va. During the fifties General Haldane saw service at Fort Benning, in Korea, at West Point and at Fort Leavenworth. In 1965 he took command of a battalion ofthe 1st Infantry Division at Fort Ri- ley, Kansas. He took that unit to Viet Nam and later assumed command of the 3rd Brigade ot the 1st Division. ln September 1969 General Haldane returned to West Point and in July 1970 he was assigned to Fort Dix as Deputy Commander.
