On 6 July I948, fhe 5fh Armored Division was reacfivafed as a fraining division. A+ fhis fime, fhe division was based af Camp Chaffee, Arkansas. From Ocfober I948 unfil March I949, fhe division followed an eighf week fraining program. In March I949 fhe program was increased fo I4 weeks. On Camp Chaffee's 75.000-acre reservafion, as many as l8,000 men af one fime have frained wifh fhe division.
