Souba Bay, Ckefc S The NewYear found the crew of USS HARR Y S. TR UMAN KC VN 751 enjoying the second port Visit of the cruise in Souda Bay, on the island of Crete. Bright blue skies and warm temperatures accented the seaside city of Hania, just a short bus ride from fleet landing. Sailors and Marines took the opportunity to purchase unique souvenirs from open-air markets and sample traditional Greek cuisine such as moussaka, goat cheese and baklava. The locals welcomed the HST crew and of- fered their hospitality during a traditional Greek dinner arranged by the ship's Morale, Welfare and Recreational department. Street musicians added to the carnival-like atmosphere as they played guitars, lyres and drums alongside the cobblestone streets. On New Year's Eve, Sailors and Marines witnessed a breathtaking fireworks display as they welcomed 2003. I.
