From the CO to the CAG to the CMC and all the way down to the most junior crew members, everyone stands shoulder to shoulder, walking slowly with eyes intently focused on the deck below them during FOD walkdown. Foreign Object Damage caused by even the small- est item is enough to down an aircraft or possibly cause a catastrophic emergency during flight if sucked into an engine. But aside from helping C VW 3, many Sailors and Marines Viewed FOD walkdown as an opportunity to emerge from the depths of their spaces far below deck and get a little fresh air on the flight deck or see some new faces in the hangar bay. Although FOD walk- downs may seem like a small thing, they were a big part of keeping the aircraft of C VW3 opera- tional and able to perform their crucial missions during Operation Iraqi F reedom. e 'if e I
