Recognized Navy-wide as in- novators, HAZMAT is manned by exceptional people who understand that doing the job right means doing it safely. HAZMAT division's main responsibilities include establishing central- ized control of all aspects of hazardous material and its proper disposal. This includes minimizing stock levels, requisitioning stowage, issue and reuse, collection and proper disposal of all non-recyclable hazardous mate- rials. The Chief Petty Ofiicer's Mess caters to 350-plus CPOs while de- ployed, both from the shipis company and the embarked air Wing. The Mess prepares an average of nearly 2,000 meals daily and they also cater special functions including Saturday night pizza, Sunday Brunch and SOQ Luncheons, among others. S511 alsotakes care of CPO berthing compartments, passageways and vestibules. g berthing creW's responsibilities include cleanliness of 'Jerthing andassociated spaces, laundry for the CPOs and general mainte- nance of all berthingcompartments.
