Commandln Officer Captain Stanley W. Br ant August 1992 to Present i A native of Detroit, Mich- igan, Captain Stanley W Bryant graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy and was commissioned an En- sign in Iune 1969. He then attended flight training with Training Squadron 10 in Pensacola, Florida, and Training Squadron 86 in Glynco, Georgia, receiving his gold wings and designa- tion as a Naval Flight Of- ficer in March 1970. Upon completion of re- placement trainin as an A- 6 Intruder ombar- dierf navigator with Attack Squadron 128, Captain Bry- ant reported to Attack Squadron 196, making two combat deployments to Southeast Asia on USS EN- TERPRISE ICVN 651. He then returned to Training Squadron 10 in Pensacola as a flight instructor and stu- dent control officer until February 1976. Upon com- pletion of A-6 Intruder re- resher training with Attack Squadron 42 in Iuly 1976, he reported to Attack Squadron 65 making two Mediterra- nean dep oyments, one in USS INDEPENDENCE CCV 621 and one on USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER ICVN 691, serving as S uad- ron Maintenance Officer and Operations Officer dur- ing that period. After attending the Armed Forces Staff College from August 1979 to Ianuary 1980, Captain Bryant re ort- ed to the Staff of Medium Attack Wing ONE, where he served as the Wing's Ad- ministrative Officer until September 1980. He then joined the staff of Carrier Air Wing SEVEN as its Op- erations Officer, and again deployed on USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER CCVN 691 to the North Atlantic and Mediterranean. In February 1983, Captain USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT Bryant reported to Medium Attack Wing ONE, as the prospective Commanding Officer of the Warhorses of Attack Squadron 55, assum- ing command of the squad- ron upon its commissioning in October 1983. In May 1985 he reported to USS NIMITZ ICVN 681 as the As- sistant Air Officer. Upon completion of naval nuclear power training, Captain Bryant was assigned as the Executive Officer of USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN ICVN 721 Precommissioning Unit in October 1987. He commanded the ship's precommissioning unit from September 27, 1988 to No- vember 13, 1988, at which time he was relieved and re- assumed duties as Execu- tive Officer. Ca tain Bryant com- mandled USS PONCE QLPD 151 from Ianuary 1990 to Iu- ly 1991. His most recent as- signment was as a fellow on the Chief of Naval Opera- tions Strategic Studies Grou in Newport, Rhode Island. Ca tain Bryant's awards and dlecorations include the Legion of Merit, three Dis- tinguished Flying Crosses, two Meritorious Service Medals, the individual Air Medal, eight StrikefFlight Air Medals, the Navy Achievement Medal and numerous other campaign and service ribbons and medals. He has two sons: Timothy, who attends St. Bonaven- ture University in New York, and Scott, a recent graduate of St. Bonaventure, who resides in Virginia Beach.
