After commissioning he was assigned to USS BASILONEIDD-8241 as Gunnery Assis- tant, followed by service in USS DALE KCG-191 as First Lieutenant and Missile Fire Control Ojjicer Upon com- pletion fy' Destroyer School in Newport he served as Engineer Ojjicer in USS TALBOT lFFG-42, and as Mate- rial Ojiicer on the stalfof Destroyer Squadron TWENTY- F1 VE. After a shore assignment as an instructor at the U. S. Naval Academy, Captain Williams was the commissioning Executive Officer of USS AUBREY FITCH KFFG-341 in October 1982. Captain Williams served ashore in Washington as the Militarjv Personnel Policy Coordinator in the Ojfficer of the ChieftJNaval Operations lOP-132.
