Ulrich, III United States Navy Rear Admiral Henry G. Ulrich, III assumed command of Cruiser Destroyer Group TWELVE and the ENTERPRISE Battle Group in August 1999. Prior to his current as- signment, he served as Director for Operations, Plans and Policy, United States Atlan- tic Fleet QLANTFLTJ, providing operational and planning advice to the Commander in Chief, United States Atlantic F leetfClNCLANTFLTj. A native of Southampton, Pennsylvania, Rear Admiral Ulrich entered the U.S. Naval Academy in June 1968 and graduated with the class of '72 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He served six sea tours with units of the Atlantic Fleet during which he made eight deployments to South America, West Africa, Northern and Southern Europe, and the Persian Gulf. His most recent tour at sea was as Commanding Officer, USS GETTYSBURG QCG 641 from May 1995 to June 1996. Between tours at sea, Rear Admiral Ulrich earned a Master of Science degree in physics, studied national security policy at the National War College, and has served on the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations as the Director of Cruise Missile Plans and Policy and on the Joint Staff as the Director of the Force Structure, Resources and Assessment Directorate. Following his assignment as Executive Assistant to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Rear Admiral Ulrich was selected for Flag rank in August 1997. His awards and decorations include two Defense Superior Service Medals and the Meritorious Service Medal. 7
