Brown United States Navy Executive Officer USS Enterprise CCVN 651 Commander Robert W. Brown entered the Navy in 1981 through the Aviation Officer Can- didate QAOCS1 Program. Upon completion of AOCS at Pensacola, Florida, he was commis- sioned an Ensign in June 1981. He completed primary flight training at VT-8, NAS Whiting Field, and Basic Jet training at VT-4, NAS Pensacola, and advanced training at VT -28 NAS Corpus Christi. He was designated a Naval Avia- tor on 8 October 1982. Upon completion FRS training at VAW-120, he joined the Tiger Tails of VAW-125 for two deployments aboard USS Saratoga fCV-601 fNov 83-Nov 861. At the completion of his first sea tour, he became an instructor at the East Coast FRS, VAW-120, and was ultimately selected to attend Naval Test Pilot School 1Class 981. After successfully completing Test Pilot School, he was assigned to Force Warfare Test Directorate for two years. During his second sea tour with the Bear Aces of VAW-124, he made one deployment aboard USS Theodore Roosevelt QCVN 711 during Operations Desert Shield, Desert Storm, and Provide Comfort fOct 90-Sep 921. He was then assigned as the Operations Officer with the Steel Jaws of VAW-122 fOct 92- Dec 941, the Navy's counter-drug squadron, and then as the Chief Staff Officer for AEWWINGLANT QJ an 94-Aug 941. He attended Naval War College from August 1994-June 1995, and Armed Forces Staff College from June 1995-September 1995, before assuming duties as Executive Officer of VAW- 120, the E-2C community's single site FRS. He returned to the fleet in October 1996 as the Executive Officer of the VAW-128 Screwtops, and ulti- mately assumed command of the Screwtops in December 1997. As the Executive and Commanding Officer, he successfully led the Screwtops through an October 1997-April 1998 deployment to both the Mediterranean Sea and Arabian Gulf. After his command tour, he was selected for the Nuclear Power Program and is presently assigned as the Executive Officer aboard USS ENTERPRISE. Commander Brown has logged more than 5,500 flight hours and 500 carrier arrested landings in 26 different aircraft. He has accumulated over 5,000 hours in the E-QC Hawkeye, flown 65 combat sorties in Iraq with over Q84 combat hours. His military awards include two Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal with Combat VD, three Strike f Flight Air Medals, three Navy Unit Commendations, two Meritorious Unit Commendations, three Battle '4E,', a Navy Expeditionary Medal, a National Defense Service Medal, an Armed Forces Expedition- ary Medal, two Southwest Asia Service Medals, four Sea Service Deployment Ribbons, and a Kuwait Liberation Medal. ,1 ,, 1
