United States Navy Rear Admiral Morgan graduated in 1972 from the Univeristy of Virginia as part of the NROT C program. After graduation, he reported to the USS Barbel QSS 5801 for a two- year tour, during Which, Rear Adm. Morgan qualified in submarines. Rear Adm. Morgan then reported to duties on the Staff of the Chief of Naval Opera- tions, Where he was designated an intelligence subspecialist. In August 1978, Rear Adm. Morgan proceeded to Destroyer School. Upon completion of training, he reported to the USS Robert E. Peary QFF 10731 as Operations Ofiicer. In November 1982, Rear Adm. Morgan reported to Naval Surface Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet, Headquarters in Coronado, Calif., as the Flag Lieutenant and Aideto COMNAVSURPAC. Following his duties at COMNAVSURPAC, Rear Adm. Morgan served as the commis- sioning Executive Oflicer for the USS Vincennes QCG 491, which was Pacific fleet's first Aegis cruiser. Rear Adm. Morgan then reported to the Staff of the Chief of Naval Operations as the Aegis Weapons Program Coordinator. Rear Adm. Morgan then served as the contingency planner in the Joint Operations Division on the Staff of the Joint Chief of Staff prior to his assignment as Commanding Officer, USS Arleigh Burke QDDG 51j. He commanded the Arleigh Burke throughout her construction, fitting out, tests, trials, and operational evaluation at sea. Arleigh Burke was the Atlantic Fleet Top Gun in 1991. y Rear Adm. Morgan next served as Assistant Chief of Staff for Resources and Require- ments IJ -81 at COMSECONDFLT, and as the Director, Joint Force Integration and Inter- national Programs in the Ballistic Missile Defense Organization. In November 1994, Rear Adm. Morgan assumed command of Destroyer Squadron 26 and deployed with the USS George Washington Battle Group. Rear Adm. Morgan served as the first Director, Anti-Submarine Warfare Division QOPNAV N84j after reporting to OPNAV staff in Washington D. C., during which Rear Adm. Morgan was selected for flag rank.. Rear Adm. Morgan then reported as Deputy for Acquisition Strategy and Long Range Planning in the Ballistic Missile Defense Organization.

Captain Iames A. Winnefeld, fr United States Navy Commanding Officer USS Enterprise CCVN 651 Captain James A. Winnefeld, Jr. graduated in 1978 with high honor in Aerospace Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and received his commission from the NROTC program. Following flight training, he received his wings in 1980, and after F-14 fleet replacement training, he served with the Fighting Renegades of VF-24 based at NAS Miramar. During this tour, he received his Wing Landing Signal Officer qualification and participated in two deployments to the Indian Ocean aboard USS CONSTELLATION QCV 641 and USS RANGER 1CV 611. In 1983 Captain Winnefeld joined the Navy Fighter Weapons School tTop Gun1 staff, flying the F-5 and A-4 and serving as an instructor and Training Department Head until 1987. He subsequently joined the Wolfpack of VF-1, where he served as Operations Officer, participated in two deployments to the Indian Ocean aboard USS RANGER and was selected 1989 Grumman Topcat of the Year. Captain Winnefeld reported to the Operations Directorate IJ-31 Joint Staff in early 1990, where he served as Central Command Branch Officer, Joint Operations Division, during Operations DESERT SHIELD and DESERT STORM and received the Admiral William J. Crowe Joint Staff Action Officer of the Year award. He then served as Senior Aide to General Colin Powell, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. In 1993, he reported aboard VF-211 as Executive Officer and Commanding Officer and deployed to the Arabian Gulf for Operation SOUTHERN WATCH aboard USS NIMITZ ICVN 681. He subsequently reported to the Navy Nuclear Power School in Orlando, Florida, where he received the Vice Admiral William W. Behrens, Jr. Award as the honor graduate of his class. In October 1996, he reported to USS JOHN C. STENNIS fCVN 741 as Execu- tive Officer during the ship's maiden deployment. Captain Winnefeld assumed command of USS CLEVELAND QLPD 71 in August 1998. Deploying to WESTPAC in 1998-99, CLEVELAND participated in non-combatant evacu- ation contingency operations off Eritrea and maritime intercept and unmanned aerial vehicle QUAV1 operations in the Arabian Gulf. Captain Winnefeld assumed command of USS ENTERPRISE in March 2000. Captain Winnefeld graduated in 1994 with Highest Distinction from the U. S. Naval War College off-campus program. His awards include two Legions of Merit, Defense Meritori- ous Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Medal, and five Battle Efficiency awards. A I I
