. . . in P mfmvzcy Three years ago a heterogeneous group of students gathered from all parts of California to begin their professional training in the College of Pharmacy. A few have left this class and been replaced by others. But for the most part the members are the same. They have survived three years of rigid professional training here at the Medical Center. Practically all knew little or nothing of the art and science of pharmacy when they began. Now they will be expected to enter practice and carry on and raise the high standards of professional competence demanded of gradu- ates of the University of California College of Pharmacy. The faculty deserves and receives the gratitude of the class of '54. Though there may have been rough spots, it can honestly be said that a closer relationship has developed between faculty and students than has existed over the years. It is our earnest hope that this relationship will continue and improve after we have left the Medical Center. The importance of Pharmacy in the team of Health Profes- sions requires strenuous and prolonged training. The College of Pharmacy has started us on the road to professional competence. We must and will follow this road with the ultimate goal of serv- ice--service to the community, but most important, service to the patient.
