mffin Each year as we have watched the new build- ings rise on our Medical Center Campus we have thought, This will be the year, the year when we will begin to enjoy our new facilities. That is the prediction which l made to you last year. Now we are told that we will begin to move into the first wing of the new Medical Science Building in March. The classrooms and offices of the School of Nursing are located in the wing. When teaching begins in our new classrooms, students in Physical Therapy and Dental Hy- giene will share the new classroom and labora- tories in Nursing Arts with us. Indeed, they will be taught by the same instructors in Nursing who teach our own students. This sharing of space and instructors is sure to result in a more unified group of workers in the health field, a development for which we have all worked. I know you will be ready to ossume your share in the field of health. Margaret A. Tracy bmfmolcy Congratulations to the members of the gradu- ting class! The transition that takes place upon graduation brings with it many changes, not the least of which is the feeling that comes with a good job well done. Now you are to assume many new responsibilities. For some of these your education and training in the College of Pharmacy have prepared you well. We expect that you will fulfill these responsibilities with high credit to yourself and to your University. But you have a greater responsibility in making decisions requiring high ethical standards. The integrity which will distinguish your service to the community will enrich your lives as well as the lives of those you serve. You will find that, in the words of Maimonides, Knowledge is immense and the spirit of man can extend infi- nitely to enrich itself daily with new require- ments. The faculty joins me in expressing best wishes to each of you. Troy C. Daniels ,DEAN TRACY School oi Nursing DEAN DANIELS College of Pharmacy

E6l1fl.f0 DEAN SMYTH School oi Medicine Medicine To the graduating classes ot our professional schools ot the San Francisco Medical Center- congratulations and best wishes for a successful professional career. Few times has our country been so concerned with health in its many as- pects. The need tor the professional help you can give is great-yours is a golden opportunity. Wherever you go, wherever you find your inter- est and service I hope you will remember the Alma Mater With the loyal devotion ot true alumni. Francis S. Smyth DEAN FLEMING College of Dentistry xr entirtry The first Increment ot the Medical Sciences Building and the expansive Moifitt Hospital will be completed in 1953-54. These huge structures of steel and cement surely have a different meaning for different people. To some, the build- ings represent a thing which has been accom- plished. To others, the buildings represent only one step in the attainment ot a goal, the first step ot many yet to come. To still others-partie ularly to the Medical Center students-the build- ings, symbolize the beginning ot their career in the Health Sciences. Regardless of what the buildings mean to each of us, We should remember that the buildings themselves are not as important as the men and Women in them. Ot the men and women, the im- portant thing is not their number, but the kind ot people they are. And in the Health Sciences, most important are those who are kind in spirit, for kindliness is the priceless ingredient in all prescriptions. Willard C. Fleming
