■ IT ' S MAKIN ' ME WAIT Mardi Gras booths became addictive. The price of the tickets was forgotten in the anticipation of getting the golf ball in the right dish. The prize became secondary to the desire of winning at one of those impossible games of something less than skill. But then again, victory was made sweeter by the Donatello that might be won. ■ JACOB ' S LADDER Not the movie, but the Mardi Gras booth, raised as much money as it did laughs. The money raised from the student booths at Mardi Gras helped to put a lot of smiles on the faces of inner-city children who would benefit that summer from their experience at UniCamp. Mardi Gras proved to benefit all involved, providing the community with a great time as they provided the necessary funds for UniCamp. 18 Mardi Gras

Some Yell ■ U-C-L-A ! No one could deny the pride in the air during the 1990 Homecoming Parade. One of the largest college parades in the U.S. turned out to be one of the most spirited. Hundreds of students, alumni and other UCLA fans gathered on the streets of Westwood to cheer on student organizations that marched, performed or built a float for the annual event. ■ GIVE ME A ' B ' ! The alumni head cheerleader, Jeff Strand, kept everyone pumped up at the football games week after week. Strand never let Bruins down, by keeping the alumni section sometimes more active than the student section. An investment banker by week, a spirited UCLA alumnus by Saturday afternoons, Strand showed that UCLA pride does not end at graduation. Spirit 1
