I comprise all the different aspects and characteristics this university has to offer. UCLA is above all an academic institution with various branches stemming from it. As a member of Mortar Board I embody the the successful criteria necessary in leaders, scholars and community servicers. I was honored as a member of the honor society because of my commitment to the UCLA community, because of my proven leadership skills as well as my high commitment to scholastic achievement. Not only do I represent the academic nature of the university, I represent service to my community through my dedication to Project Prison Coalition and the African Educa- tion Project. These commitments have allowed me to share, implement and apply the skills I learned at UCLA. Furthermore, I reflect the diversity of the university. I have committed myself to the needs of the underrepresented communities through my involvement with Academic Advancement Program, the African Student Union and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and as a teaching assistant in the Los Angeles Unified School District. Not only has UCLA has rewarded me with friends that will last throughout my life, but has also given me a basis on which I can create a future in which I will be proud of my contributions. After attending law school I hope to return to the inner-city focusing on criminal and juvenile law. I feel as if I have the strength, commitment and drive to focus on my goals and achieve them.
