The membership of this club is dedicated to learning the practical aspects of business. Sponsored by Mrs. McCarter, the Business Club has twenty-five members who meet every second and fifth Thursday after school. The club heard professional businessmen, as well as business majors from area colleges, as speakers. Fieldtrips to corpor- ations and places of business were also on the program for members interested in attending. Officers of this club are: President ......... Jean Ann Nunley Business Club :hy- Red Cross Club Sponsored byMrs. Jordan and Mrs. Parks, this service or- ganization fulfills many needs of the community. Members serve by doing work in local hospitals, day nurseries, and other goodwill industries. A feature project was the sending of gift boxes to child- ren in Viet Nam. Future Teachers Club The Future Teachers Club, sponsored by Mrs. Claxton and Mrs. Elizabeth Brandon, informs stude nts about the profession of teaching. The members are able to te st their skill by becoming teacher-aides , that is, assisting teachers during an hour of their regular study hall period. Meeting every second and fourth Wed- nesday of each month, members assemble with other Future Teachers chapters at one of these meetings. Another one of their out- standing projects was helping to make Na- tional American Education Week a big suc- cess. The officers serving this club are Debbie Steed . . . . . . . . . .... . . . Audio Visual Club This, as yet, little known club performs avaluable service tothe school. Under the leadership of Mrs. Brooks, this new club has rapidly assumed a place of re- sponsibility in the operation and upkeep of theschool' s audio visual equipment. A total of twenty-two students has met regularly on the first and third Thursday of the month to watch m ov i e s , learn new tech- niques in operation of equipment and hear special talks given by professional men. One can see that this is an extremely active club to be so yotmg and it is hoped that it will continue to grow, both in membership and service to the school. Allen Hancock Industrial Arts Club The Industrial Arts Club holds as its purpose the improve- ment of shop techniques and prac- tices. One of its projects is the establishment of a graphic arts shop. P e r h ap s relatively little known, this club is striving for quality, both in work and workers. Under t h e direction of Mr. Smith, the s h o p instructor and technical drawing teacher, this club meets after school in the shop ev e r y second and fourth Thurs- day.
