The Two Rivers Library Staff performs a vital service to the school and students. Under the supervision of our librarian, Mrs. Jones, the members of the staff are responsible for the many seen and unseen activities of the li- brary. Each student staff mem- ber gives at least five hours of his school week to servicing books-- supervising circulation, arrang- ing them on the shelves, or pro- cessing new and worn books. An- other important s e rv ic e is the staff's work with periodicals and research materials. Members of this group at- tended the annual convention of the Middle Tennessee Association for Student LibraryAssistants. Dur- ing this time they learned the lat- est techniques and view numerous displays. In recognition of their service and assistance, members of the staff are awarded certifi- cates, and later, pins. Library Staff Humanities CI 5 2 t si E s ub The Humanities Club was or- ganizedthis year for students in- terested in reading world litera- ture. Meetingwith Mrs. Thomp- son and Mrs. C lark, members read for pleasure and personal enrichment. Studying such works of art as The Odyssey , this group has been an interesting ad- dition tothe clubs at Two Rivers. A special project undertaken by the Humanities Club was the sale of us e d paper-back books. This money was raised in order to purchase books for our school library. Junior Science Club Sponsored by Mr. Black, the Junior Science Club meets every second and fourth Thursday in Room 228. H oping to gain a deeperunde rstanding ofthe world in which We live, the mem- bers participate actively in the world of science that goes be- yond classroom work. This club was responsible for the joint sponsorship of the Science Fair in the spring. The officers of this club are: Lynn Wright .......... President Hugh White ....... Vice-President Junior Math Club The Junior Math Club, sponsored by Mr. Baggett and Mrs. H u m p h r e y meets every first and third Thursday in Room 122. The purpose of the club is to help members develop an in- terest in mathematical princi- ples not included in the junior high curriculum. One of their many special activities is learn- ing to use the slide rule effi- ciently. This is a newly formed club with twenty-two members. The officers of this club are: Mike Eaton ........... Spanish Club To promote a stronger ap- preciation of Spanish culture is the purpose of this club. One project planned to carry out this idea was the school as- sembly program presented in January. Another activity was the raising of money from var- ious projects in order to add materials to the s c ho ol lan- guage laboratory. Sponsored by Miss Alley, members of the Spanish Club see film s and learn Spanish games at their afternoon meet- ings.
