C athy Elliott EVE TH GRADER Timid, frightened, and eager, two hundred and forty-two students entered TRHS in September, 1964, forming the seventh grade class of 1965. Most of the new students did not know what to expect of high school. Havingleft the sixth grade wherethey had been the oldest, they were now resigned to the role of the youngest among some thirteen hundred students. There were many adjustments to be made - for a time even the ringing of the bell confused the seventh graders. Unwilling to be late to class, seventh graders were observed running madly down the halls, eliminating every obstacle Ceven seniors! D. Their school spirit and enthusiasmfor sports served to encourage less interested upperclassmen. Seventh graders made themselves known to other students by throwing bags of confetti at ball games. By June, seventh graders were relieved that their first year was over. Excited about their coming eighth gradeyear, they looked forward to enjoying aposition of authority over the timid, frightened, and eager seventh graders who would enter in the fall. 190
