Inthe fall of 1964 Two Rivers students welcomed four- teen new teachers including an exchange teacher from England. Physics, Sociology, French II, American Govern- ment and Economics, and English IV, subjects which had never before been offered at Two Rivers, provided formidable challenges to seniors. Some hardy girls braved Home Ec- onomics while many boys enjoyed Mechanical Drawing and Shop. For many, the study of Art opened a new world of beauty, and appreciation for fine music was found by many students in Music. For underclassmen the problems of Math and Science were as baffling as they had been for countless students be- fore them. J W mu 'S To every student at Two Rivers High, 1965, r ep r e s e nting harder subjects and more work, offered greater pride in his achievements.

Two Rivers' Buccaneer Band was spot- lighted even more in '65 when it captured several trophies and when several members received superior ratings at festivals. Drum Major Larry Apple led the band members in intricate manuevers which entertained spec- tators at ball games and the leadership of Director Kenton Hull continued to stimulate increased achievement bv the band. It is the purpose of the Guidance Depart- ment to help students make the most of them- selves. Many services are offered, including the provision of information - about courses, requirements for graduation, further train- ing, colleges, scholarships, and kinds of jobs. Also available here are the services of per- sonal counseling, of testing to discover in- dividual skills and abilities, and of making application for higher education or employ- ment. The hope of the Guidance Department is that students may be helped to reach the many important decisions that must be made during high school years.

The principles of representative govern- ment are upheld at Two Rivers by the Student Council. Comprised of representatives from each homeroom, the Student Council studies school-related problems and offers solutions. Mrs. Rob McGee, sponsor, provides capable leadership and helps in making decisions. Each student at Two Rivers realizes that through his homeroom representative he has a direct voice in the administration of the school. He knows that any suggestion he offers will be considered. Anything from bent silverware to senior privileges may come before the Council. The Student Council encourages good citizen- ship in the school by holding elections each spring for the offices of student leadership. The use of voting machines instills the re- sponsibility of voting in each student. X Each year at Christmas the Student Council initiates a school-wide project to aid underpriviledged children. Later in the year an entertaining talent show is sponsored by the Student Council. A handbook to help all students orientate themselves to high school life was published in 1964 and proved to be an invaluable aid to many seventh graders. The primary concern of the Student Council is to promote those activities which will ma.ke Two Rivers a better school. All of its efforts are directed toward this end. I2
