Starting practice in August, the Royal Titan Ban(i spent a successful and rewarding year. Helping boost the “Titan” spirit, the band played at pep rallies, all home games, and traveled to some of the away games, presenting halftime shows for everyone’s enjoyment. The Royal Titan Band was heard proudly in the Homecoming parade in Nickelsville and Dungannon and in tobacco festivals held at Abingdon and Pennington Gap. MAJORETTES; Shelia Smith, Barbara Salyer - Captain, Linda Dockery, and Myra Combs. Concentrating on her music, Debbie Osborne doesn’t notice her “blown” locks. Our own sing -in CHORUS MEMBERS “All right you get over there,” shouts Mrs. Tilley. The chorus this year has learned many new songs, but in addition they have spent much time in study- ing musical notation and terminology. They also studied different musical works and composers. The class has been a combination of singing, music his- tory, and music theory. The chorus sang for a PTA program last fall. Then they presented a special Christmas program at the elementary and high school along with the band and Hi-Y. They presented a Spring concert at the ele- mentary schools as well as here at Twin Springs. As Kathy Ramey keeps in time with the music, the other students just goof off.

At Christmas time the band traveled to Kingsport, St. Paul, Big Stone, Gate City, and Nickelsville to perform in parades. They also performed a Christmas concert along with the Hi-Y and Chorus at the area elementary and high school. During the year the band played for a special PTA meeting, and WGAT’s Heart-O-Rama. In the spring the Royal 1 Titan Band was once again ! heard when they gave a rock I concert at the area elementary I and high school and played for the home baseball games.
